Bible Verses About Our Identity in Christ
If you are born again, you have been reborn into the family of God, and the Holy Spirit living in you is proof that you are now His child. This new identity in Christ overrides anything that may have prevailed in your earthly family—whether it’s poverty, sickness, reproach, stagnation, barrenness, marital struggles, or any other challenge.
You are no longer defined by those negative experiences because you are now a child of God. From the moment you declared Jesus as your Lord and Savior, the blessings of Abraham were conferred upon you. As a result, you are no longer cursed, sick, barren, or rejected.
Even if your current circumstances seem contrary, choose to believe what God says about you instead of what your situation suggests. Meditate on and confess the following scriptures daily until your heart fully believes them and your life begins to align with God’s promises.
- We were therefore buried with him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life – Romans 6:4
- If the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, he who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through his Spirit who dwells in you – Romans 8:11
- For you have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but you have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father – Romans 8:15
- The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God – Romans 8:16
- And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together – Romans 8:17
- But he who is joined to the Lord becomes one spirit with him – 1 Corinthians 6:17
- I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me – Galatians 2:20
- By this is love perfected with us, so that we may have confidence for the day of judgment, because as he is so also are we in this world – 1 John 4:17
- And this is the testimony: God has given us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. Whoever has the Son has life; whoever does not have the Son of God does not have life – 1 John 5:11-12
